Eddie "Ed" Carl Coletti, 78, of Cheyenne, passed away Wednesday, May 11, 2011, at Life Care Center of Cheyenne. Ed was born in Omaha, Nebraska, on April 24, 1933. He served in the US Air Force, enlisting in 1951. He served many tours overseas including Korea, Japan, Vietnam and Germany, where he met his wife, Gertrude Kalker, who preceded him in death. He received an Air Force Commendation medal and was awarded was a Silver Star for gallantry in action against an enemy of the US. He settled in Cheyenne in 1969, continuing his Air Force career until 1973. He then began a career in Civil Service at FE Warren Air Force Base spanning from painting missiles to landing everything from dignitary planes to the Thunderbirds at Transit Alert. In 1993, he retired from Civil Service after 20 dedicated years. Ed is survived by his wife, Jeanette, whom he married in 2008; a daughter, Dorother Lundgren of Seattle, WA; and sons Dieter Coletti of Cheyenne, Gerhardt Coletti, and Robert Carl Coletti of Little Rock, AR; 13 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Ed was a skilled carpenter and painter. His hobbies included model railroading, auto restoration and hand making items like doll houses. His grandchildren remember him for his comedic timing. He will be remembered by others for his keen bargain hunting and deal negotiating, unique way of communicating, and helpful attitude. Visitation will be held on Monday, May 16, 2011, from 10-11 a.m. at the Schrader Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. in the Schrader Drawing Room with military honors provided by American Legion Post #6.
