Cheyenne

Edward Garcia, affectionately known as Eddie, was born on May 10, 1935, in Brighton, Colorado. He passed away on April 2, 2025, at the Davis Hospice Center in Cheyenne, leaving behind a legacy of love, dedication, and kindness.

Eddie's life's journey began with his education at Cheyenne Central High School, from which he graduated in 1954. Shortly after, in 1955, he began a career as a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service, a role that undoubtedly showcased his reliability and hardworking nature. In 1979, he followed his passion for food and family by purchasing and becoming the owner of Casa De Garcia, a beloved restaurant that served many until its closure in 2020.

Eddie's life was defined by his devotion to his family. He adored providing for them and found immense joy in the laughter and innocence of small children, who were always considered his favorite people. His heart extended beyond just humans; Eddie had a profound appreciation for all God's creatures, big or small. From the neighborhood cats to the mini horses grazing in pastures, every life held significant and precious value in Eddie’s eyes.

With a personality that could light up the room, Eddie was known for his caring, faithful, and protective nature. He was loyal, honest, and had a remarkable sense of humor that endeared him to all who crossed his path. He delighted in playful antics, often messing with his wife's daily routine by moving towels or important papers and cleverly hiding the remotes, bringing laughter into their home. Every morning started with cherished moments spent over coffee and breakfast with his beloved wife, Helen, who remained a steadfast & supportive partner throughout their 69 years together.

Eddie had varied interests and hobbies that brought him joy. He loved collecting anything from rocks to coins, toys, and pens. Trips to the local dollar store were a favorite pastime, and he relished drives to the posos (bottoms), enjoying simple pleasures such as grabbing a burger or a banana split with his beloved family, especially his precious grandchildren. His culinary passion was evident as he cleaned beans and prepared food for his customers, pouring love into everything he created. Eddie found tranquility sitting on his swing, watching the world go by as he savored life's small moments.

Eddie's proudest accomplishments were his family, marriage, career, devotion to the Lord, and the tender care he provided for his mother. He leaves behind his devoted wife, Helen M. Garcia; his son, Arnold Garcia; his daughter, Evelyn Allard, along with her husband, Tom Allard; and his daughter, Cynthia Garcia. His legacy continues through his grandchildren: Steve Garcia, Miranda Garcia, Jeremy Allard, Marijah Tafoya, Erica Sevilla, Jessica Olivares, Veronica Olivares, and Amber Miears, along with 17 cherished great-grandchildren and a soon to be great great-grandson who will all carry his spirit and memory in their hearts.

Though Eddie is preceded in death by his son, Steve Garcia, and his daughter, Brenda Garcia, as well as his parents, Facundo and Elvira Garcia, and his siblings: Brothers William, Rudy, Reuben, Albert, and Reloy Garcia, and a younger sister Gloria Hernandez, his love and lessons remain embedded in the lives of those he touched.
