Eileen Poelma

Eileen W. Poelma, 93, of Carpenter, passed away on May 1st, 2014 at her daughter's home in Alamogordo, NM. Eileen was born on October 10th, 1920 in Albin, Wyoming to Martin and Effie Ruth. She married James Poelma on September 10, 1941 in Pine Bluffs, Wyoming. They were married for 64 years. Eileen was an active member of St. Paul Catholic Church and served in the Altar and Rosary Society in Carpenter for many years, spending her time in service to others. She was also a Eucharistic Minister, taking the Eucharist to shut-ins in the Grover-Hereford area. One of Eileen's greatest attributes was her artistic talent in quilting. She was an active member of the Heritage Quilting Club in Cheyenne, and she gifted her family with many quilts and wall hangings. Eileen will be sorely missed by her loved ones and friends, but her legacy lives on in her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren with their faith, love of music, and enthusiasm for life. Eileen is survived by her children, Joe (Pat)Poelma of Waynesville, NC, Joann Holm of Alamogordo, NM, and Ron Poelma of Cheyenne, WY, and seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Poelma, her daughter, Rose Mary Peak, her sister, Gurda Kelly and her brother, Ivan Ruth. A Vigil for the Deceased will be held on Tuesday, at 7:00 p.m. at St. Paul Catholic Church. A Funeral Liturgy will be held on Wednesday, at 10:00a.m. at St. Paul Catholic Church. She will be laid to rest following the liturgy in Pine Bluffs Cemetery. Services are under the care of Schrader Funeral Home.
