A Vigil for the Deceased will be held 6 p.m Tuesday, March 22nd at Schrader Chapel. A Funeral Liturgy will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 23rd at St. Mary‘s Cathedral. Interment will be at Olivet Cemetery Eileen Uphoff, 92, passed away from Alzheimer’s on March 20, 2010, at Life Care Center in Cheyenne. She was born Nov. 10, 1917, in Osawatomie, Kansas. On August 15, 1942, she married William L. (Larry) Uphoff, then serving in the U.S. Army. Eileen and Larry opened Cheyenne Travel Service in 1949, the first travel agency in Wyoming, and worked in the business until 1991. They escorted bus tours, took church groups to see the Pope and football fans to bowl games. Eileen visited Hawaii close to 100 times and in her later years, cruised around the world six times. On-board, she turned her love of knitting into an international philanthropic endeavor, organizing a program that gave yarn to passengers who created items for needy children around the world. The Uphoffs were a founding family of Holy Trinity Church. Eileen was active in the Holy Trinity Council of Catholic Women and Bishop’s Guild. She was most recently a member of St. Mary’s Cathedral. She is survived by her daughters Judith Uphoff of Cheyenne; Joan Uphoff of White Salmon, Washington; and Jeanne Anderson (and husband Peter) of Driggs, Idaho, along with two dozen nieces and nephews. The Uphoff daughters would like to especially thank all those at LifeCare who treated Eileen with such tender care, and special friends, including Kathryn and Dave Bertrand. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents Marie and John Murphy, sister Veronica (Pat) Kiger, and brother Gerald Murphy. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to St. Mary’s School, 2200 Oneil Ave., Cheyenne, WY 82001.
