Elaine Jessop, 85, died Saturday June 3rd, 2023 after a short battle of lung cancer with metastasis to the brain.
Elaine was born April 17th, 1938 in a dugout house in Callaway, NE to Theodore and Marie Eggleston. She was the 3rd oldest of 5 children.
She married Howard Jessop in September of 1960. The couple resided in the Pine Bluffs Community for 60 plus years and raised 4 children - Randall Jessop (wife Nancy), Carmen Roth (husband Mark), Beth Klinginsmith (husband David), and Joyce Boothe (husband Ricky). Elaine had nine grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Elaine was a fulltime homemaker, mother and farmers wife as well as an accomplished seamstress. She sewed many of her children’s and grandchildren’s clothing progressing to intricate wedding gowns and bridesmaids’ dresses. Later, her talents evolved into quilting and painting which resulted in beautiful works of art.
Most cherished to her, were family and friends, although her ultimate commitment was to the Lord. She started the day with a bible study that guided her through the joys and adversities of life. She was a life long active member in the Crossroads Community Church.
Elaine was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Jessop and her eldest brother, Jim Eggleston. She is survived by two brothers, Allen Eggleston, Frank Eggleston and a sister Edna Ross.
Elaine would say, anything you need know about living your life can be found in the “Book of Proverbs”, the words are just as relevant today as when the bible was written. She underlined in her Bible Proverbs 3 verses 5-6, ”Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.”
