After 81 years of bringing light and joy to those around her, Elizabeth Ann Mallery of Cheyenne Wyoming passed away at Life Center of Cheyenne on April 30, 2024, from Alzheimer’s. Elizabeth, or Liz as she was known, touched countless lives through her professional career in mental health and her work at various medical practices in Cheyenne, but more broadly and deeply, through her love of her family and friends.

Liz was a gatherer of people. If you were a friend of a friend, you were her friend too. Those who knew Liz were touched by her unconditional love and acceptance and could not help but be charmed by her positivity and humor. In the words of John Steinbeck, “It was her habit to build laughter out of inadequate materials.” She loved to entertain and was famous for her impromptu porch suppers. While it was painful to see Liz’s light obscured by the fog of Alzheimer’s, one could still occasionally see a gleam in her eye to the end. She might sing, dance, or say something that lifted those in her company. Liz and her bright light will be sorely missed.

Liz is predeceased by her grandson, Kevin Harvey, Jr. Liz is survived by her children, Lisa Journey of Cheyenne, Lori Mallery of Cheyenne, Lynda Mallery and her spouse Anne Buzard of Phoenix, Arizona, Larry F. Mallery Jr. and his spouse Lynn Marie Mallery of Cheyenne and Coppell, Texas. Her grandchildren, Justin Journey and his spouse Stacy, Jacob Journey and his spouse Brenda, Lexi Mallery and Nona Mallery of Cheyenne and Coppell, Texas. Her great grandchildren, Michaela Journey and her spouse Nate, Isabella Journey, and David and Henry Journey all from Cheyenne and great-great grandchildren: LuLu and Jenni James Journey.

In lieu of flowers, we ask those who wish to contribute to direct your gifts to the Alzheimer’s Association.
