Ella Crane

Ella M. Crane, 76, of Cheyenne, Wyoming, died Tuesday, March 11, 2014, at the Davis Hospice Center, following a courageous battle with ovarian cancer. Mrs. Crane was born on July 10, 1937, on a farm near Roscoe, SD, to Bernhard and Marie (Leib) Semmler. Ella grew up in South Dakota and married Ronald Crane on November 2, 1957, in Ipswich, SD. During Ron's 21 year Naval career, they lived in numerous states such as Rhode Island and Massachusetts prior to moving to Cheyenne where her husband finished his military career. Ella was a very serious quilter and sewer. She was involved with Girl Scouts, the Ladies of the Moose, American Legion Auxiliary, and the Wyoming Hotsy Totsy Reds. She also loved playing Texas hold‘em at the senior center and she especially enjoyed traveling. Ella is survived by her loving husband, Ronald "Ron" Crane; two daughters, Loretta Spear and husband, Carey, and Connie Crane; two sons, Orville Crane and wife, Brenda, and Steven Crane; two brothers, George Semmler and Martin Semmler; one granddaughter; and two step-granddaughters. She is preceded by her parents, and her sisters, Della Thompson, Janette Poplau and Betty Anderson. A memory service will be celebrated on Saturday, March 29, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. at the Schrader Chapel with Chaplain David Stratton officiating. A reception will immediately follow at the Schrader Reception Center. Cremation is under the direction of Schrader Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Davis Hospice Center.
