Ellen Mellott

Ellen Mellott, 82, of Cheyenne, passed on June 10, 2015 at Life Care Center of Cheyenne, surrounded by her loving family. She was born October 9, 1932 in Crook, CO to John and Mary McDonnell. She graduated from Crook High School in CO, graduated from Colorado State University in 1954 and a Masters of Education from University of Hawaii in 1969. She married Vernon Mellott on June 27, 1955 in Ft. Morgan, CO. She was an educator for the Wyoming Department of Education, retiring after 21 years. She was a lifelong Presbyterian. As a military wife, she traveled and was interested in many cultures. She enjoyed the Arts, participating in Cheyenne's Symphony and Civic Center programs. She was inducted into the National Future Homemakers Hall of Fame in Washington DC in 1995. She was a CSU Alumnus and participated with her sorority sisters. Ellen enjoyed her book club, bridge club, Retired Teachers Association, and other activities. Ellen's biggest joy was her grandchildren. She is survived by her children, Vernelle (David) Mosey of Bath, PA and Gary (Christina) Mellott ; grandchildren, Cameron and Kylie Mellott of Centennial, CO; siblings, Earl McDonnell of Lakewood, CO and Lucille LeBlanc of Sterling, CO. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Vernon on March 13, 2006 and her brother, Larry McDonnell. Visitation will be Sunday and Monday 1:00 - 5:00 p.m. at Schrader Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday in the Lakeview Chapel at Schrader Funeral Home in Cheyenne. Committal Service will be 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at Riverside Cemetery in Sterling. In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, P.O.
