Elmer Schneider, 86, of Cheyenne, Wyoming, passed away early Wednesday morning, February 3, 2016, at the Memorial Hospital of Carbon County in Rawlins. Elmer was born December 19, 1929, in Longmont, Colorado, a son of the late Peter and Elizabeth (Oakes) Schneider. Elmer served as a member of the Wyoming Army National Guard from 1948 to 1984, retiring from service as a Lieutenant Colonel. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed fly fishing and was a Wyoming Cowboy enthusiast. Elmer is survived by two sons, Roger Schneider and companion, Debbie Engstrom, of Rawlins, WY, and Craig Schneider and wife, Pam, of Kittery, ME; a sister, Orion Gardner of Atlanta, GA; five grandchildren, Peter, Elizabeth, Ally, Kaitlyn and Austin; and three great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife, Betty Jo Schneider; and ten brothers and sisters. A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 24, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. at the Lakeview Chapel at Schrader, Aragon and Jacoby Funeral Home. Cremation is under the care of Schrader, Aragon and Jacoby Funeral Home in Cheyenne.
