Emil Herman

Mr. Emil W. Herman, 85, of Pine Bluffs, Wyoming, passed away Tuesday, November 5, 2013, at home. Mr. Herman was born July 29, 1928, in Kimball, Nebraska, to the late Robert and Martha (Onigkeit) Herman. Emil attended Golden Prairie School through the 8th grade and went to work at the family farm. In 1965, he married Mary Alice Barnes of Cheyenne. To this marriage three sons were born: Donald, David and Dennis. As he grew older he worked for several other local farmers, then purchased Jim's Bar in Pine Bluffs which he operated until his retirement while continuing to farm on the family farm. After his retirement, he went on to farm strictly at the family farm. He was an active member of the Pine Bluffs United Methodist Church and in earlier years, the Elks Lodge. He loved spending time with his family and grandchildren, and will be remembered as a loving father, grandfather and friend. Emil is survived by his sons, Donald Herman of Pine Bluffs, David (Teresa) Herman of Pine Bluffs and Dennis (Trudy) of Holyoke, CO; five grandchildren, Austin Herman, Josephine Herman, Lauren Herman, Courtney Herman and Joshua Herman; sisters, Margaret of Michigan, Dorothy of Georgia, and Lois of Cheyenne. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 46 years, Mary A. Herman; a brother, Robert; and sisters, Loretta and Frances. A memory service will be conducted on Saturday, November 9, 2013, at 3:00 p.m. at the Pine Bluffs United Methodist Church with Pastor Lesley Matschke officiating. An internment service will follow at the Pine Bluffs Cemetery. Cremation is under the direction of Schrader Funeral Home. Memorial donations may be made to the Pine Bluffs United Methodist Church or an organization of your choosing. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Schrader Funeral Home, Cheyenne.
