Mrs. Berniece Barga of Cheyenne, Wyoming, passed away Wednesday afternoon, January 5, 2011, at the Davis Hospice Center. Berniece was born on January 28, 1924, in Ft. Collins, Colorado, a daughter of Roy and Sadie Powell. Berniece was a graduate of Ft. Collins High School. She married Harold Peterson and moved to Cheyenne where she raised her two sons, Del and Larry Peterson. Following their divorce, she married John Barga in 1954. She worked as a clerk for Union Pacific Railroad for 30 years, retiring in 1983. Her many interests included water skiing, bowling, traveling by motor home with her husband, John, and wintering around Tucson, AZ. She was also a member of Faith United Methodist Church, Good Sams Singles RV, and Good Sams Clubs. Berniece is survived by her son, Del Peterson and wife, Suzan; grandchildren, Sonia DeCarlo and husband, Mike, Kim Brokaw and husband, Richard, Stacie Linger and husband, Mark, Dennis Howatson and wife, Jennifer, and Sarah Bartlett and husband, Robbie; twelve grandchildren; and one great-great grandson. She is preceded in death by her husband, John Barga; a son, Larry Peterson; her parents, Roy and Sadie Powell; and her brothers, Kenneth and Duane Powell. Visitation will be held on Monday, January 10, 2011, from 8-9 a.m. at the Schrader Funeral Home with a funeral service to follow at 10:00 a.m. at Faith United Methodist Church with The Reverend Travis Walker officiating. A reception at the church fellowship hall will immediately follow the service and a private family interment service will be held at Grand View Cemetery in Ft. Collins.
