Eric Hankins

Eric R Hankins, 44, of Gillette, Wyoming, passed away on Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at his home from cardiac arrest. Eric was born on Dec 27, 1973 in Casper, Wyoming to Steve and Cathy Hankins. He was the youngest of their three children. Eric lived in Casper until August 1976 when he and his family moved back to Cheyenne. He attended schools there and graduated from East High School in 1992. Throughout school, he was active in all sports and band, which led he and brother, Bob, to join the Casper Troopers Drum and Bugle Corps marching band after graduation. They traveled from coast to coast competing against other corps. Drum corps became one of Eric's lifelong passions! After aging out of the Casper Troopers at age 21, Eric attended classes at the University of Wyoming. In 1995, Eric enlisted in the United States Army and served one tour of duty in Kuwait and two in Iraq as a platoon sergeant. After 16 years, he received an honorable discharge from the Army. He married twice; first to Dolly Segovis producing a son, Bryce; second to Tricia Gibbons producing two girls, Bella and Emma. Both marriages ended in divorce. He then moved back to Cheyenne where he reconnected with the love of his life, Charity Stewart, who lived in Gillette and he moved up there to be with her. Eric is survived by Charity Stewart; parents, Rick and Cathy Moody; siblings, Cristy Cabrera and Robert Hankins; children, Bryce, Bella and Emma; nephew and niece, Trevor and Sydney Cabrera; grandparents, Leland Hankins and Lois Moody; aunts and uncles, Trudy and Tom Altwine, Terry and Kathy Anderson, Randy and Lydia Anderson, Don and Jean Cole, Scott Moody, Jim and Kim Moody, and Don and Susie Reeves; and many cousins. Eric was preceded in death by his father, Steven Hankins; and grandparents, Pat and Bud Anderson, Deloris Hansen and Richard Moody. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association, Cheyenne Animal Shelter or charity of choice. A memory service will be celebrated on April 21, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at Lakeview Chapel at Schrader, Aragon and Jacoby Funeral Home. A reception will follow at the Schrader Reception Center.
