A funeral service with military honors will be conducted on Wednesday, December 9th, at 2:00 p.m. at the Schrader Chapel. Cremation will follow at Schrader’s Sunset Park Crematory. Family will receive friends on Sunday, December 6, 2009, from 4-6 p.m. at the Schrader Funeral Home. Mr. Eric Lee Kelley, 34, of Cheyenne, Wyoming, passed away suddenly Wednesday, December 2, 2009, at the Cheyenne Regional Medical Center. Eric was born May 16, 1975, in Cheyenne, a son of Roger Kelley and Wanda (Conkling) Rodgers. Eric was a graduate of Triumph High School, Class of 1995, while also serving in the Wyoming Army National Guard for two years. He then enlisted in the United States Army and served for three years. Following his honorable discharge, he returned to serve in the Wyoming Army National Guard for one year, and then moved with his wife, Vanessa, to California. Following his honorable discharge from the California Army National Guard in 2000, he returned to Cheyenne with his family and drove for Dixon Brothers and Warner Enterprises. An avid Colorado Rockies fan, he was named Rockies Player for a Day in May of 2008, where he was able to meet Todd Helton. He was also a Star Wars fanatic and a member of the Society for Creative Anachronisms. Eric’s artistic ability and his love for drawing and painting resulted in his decision to attend Laramie County Community College to pursue his many talents. Eric is survived by his loving wife 13 years, Vanessa Lee (Mock) Kelley of Cheyenne; his parents, Roger Kelley and wife, Kay, of Oklahoma, and Wanda Rogers and husband, Orville, of Kansas; three children, Kristina Unger, Carli Unger and Kyle Unger, all of Cheyenne; three brothers, Shannon, John and Michael; four sisters, Shonda, Jennifer, Maralinda and Barbara; and one grandson-to-be, Eric L. Defer. Expressions of sympathy in Eric’s memory may be made to the American Heart Association.
