Eric "Earl" Larson

Mr. Eric "Earl" Larson, 67, of Cheyenne, Wyoming, passed away Monday, January 21, 2013, at the Cheyenne Regional Medical Center. He was born February 2, 1945, in Cheyenne. Earl was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his loving "family" at St. Paul's Lutheran Church where he had been a faithful member since early childhood. He is also survived by cousins, Byron and Mary Jane Comin of Michigan, Verda Comin of California, Judy Comin of Texas, and Dolores Yates of Colorado. His beloved pet, "Lady", was his companion in his later years. He loved to travel and his friend, Brian Chalstrom, took him to many areas of the country he had never seen. Home for Earl was his apartment at 615 Storey Blvd. He had many friends residing there. He enjoyed their companionship as well as his senior companion, Larry. He was also well acquainted with many in the community through employment at the City of Cheyenne, Diamond Shamrock (Art's Truck Stop), and the Senior Center. In his mother's later years, he tenderly cared for her. Mary accompanied him to church services and even when he did outside work at St. Paul's. Earl loved excitement, parades, travel, parties, western clothes, the Seattle Seahawks and the Wyoming Cowboys. He phoned friends every morning with news about the weather and athletic scores. His opening greeting was always, "How are you doing today?" He wanted to be remembered as a "friendly person and that he tried to do things right". All of us who knew and loved him would attest to that. Eric was a therapy patient at both ARU and Life Care Center where he received therapy for a broken hip following surgery. His ability to walk was progressing but his body was succumbing to cancer. Caring staff at both centers were very kind, patient and helpful to him. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 29, 2013, at 9:00 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church with a funeral service to follow at 10:00 a.m. An interment service will be held at Cheyenne Memorial Gardens. A fellowship lunch will follow where memories of Earl will be shared by his friends. Memorials may be given to St Paul's Lutheran Church, Meals on Wheels or the Animal Shelter.
