Esther Lorraine Clay, 92, of Cheyenne, Wyoming, passed away Thursday evening, March 10, 2016, at the Davis Hospice Center. Esther was born August 28, 1923, in Fresno, California, a daughter of the late Jacob and Elizabeth (Diehl) Eurich. Esther married John C. Clay on May 20, 1944, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. A philanthropist and supporter of the arts in Cheyenne, Esther was actively involved in the Cheyenne Civic League, Cheyenne Art Guild, Southwest Cancer Society, Laramie County Arts Council and endowed the Esther and John Clay Summer Watercolor Workshops at LCCC. She was a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church and the Cheyenne Symphony Guild. Esther is survived by her loving husband, John C. Clay of Cheyenne; two daughters, Carroll VanDuyn of Cheyenne, and Diane Wooster of Greeley, CO; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A private inurnment service will be held at St. Mark's Columbarium. A public memorial service will be announced. Expressions of sympathy in Esther's memory may be made to a private charity of one's choice.
