Eugene R. Legerski

Eugene R. Legerski, of Cheyenne, passed away at Cheyenne Regional Medical Center in Cheyenne, Wyoming on November 27, 2022.

He was born on July 27, 1943 in Sheridan, Wyoming to Joseph C. and Helen (Michalek) Legerski. Gene attended Sheridan schools and graduated from Sheridan High School in 1962. He received an Engineering Degree from the University of Wyoming in 1966. He served in the United States Army from 1967 to 1969. Upon his return, he started working for the Wyoming Highway Department. He retired in 2008 after 39 years.

Gene was a member of St. Mary’s Cathedral. He was involved in the men’s group, Kiwanis, and the Knights of Columbus. He was a volunteer for Cheyenne Frontier Days ticket committee for many years and enjoyed the local corvette club.

He enjoyed playing golf, camping, reading, and watching sporting events on tv. He loved spending time with this family. He especially enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren play sports.  He was recently blessed with a beautiful great-granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings: Michelle Schleyer and Gregory Legerski. He was also preceded in death by two-sister in-laws Bonnie (Bowman) Legerski and Shirley Legerski.

Gene is survived by three sons: Todd Ellingford of Fort Collins, Colorado; Kurt Legerski (Teresa) of Aurora, Colorado; and Chad (Erica) Legerski of Cheyenne, Wyoming. His is also survived by four brothers: Charles of Billings, Montana; David (Maryanne) of Cheyenne, Wyoming; Richard (Karen) of Sheridan, Wyoming; and Donald of Cheyenne, Wyoming. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

A Rosary will be held at 4:30PM on Thursday, December, 1, 2022 at the Lakeview Chapel in Schrader, Aragon and Jacoby Funeral Home, 2222 Russell Avenue, Cheyenne, WY 82001. A Memorial Service will take place at 11:00AM on Friday, December 2, 2022 at St. Mary’s Cathedral, 100 W. 21^st St., Cheyenne, WY 82001. A reception will follow from 12:30-4:00PM at the Cheyenne Frontier Days Buckle Club (above the exhibition hall) 1312 W. 8th St., Cheyenne, WY 82001.
