Eugene F. Potter, 93, passed away Sunday, January 7, 2018, at the Cheyenne Veterans Administration Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. He was born July 27, 1924 in Sumner, NE to Floyd & Francis Potter. He attended school in Nebraska and enlisted in the Army in Oakland, CA. He served four years in the military overseas during WWII, during which time he was injured and awarded the Purple Heart. After his discharge, he remained in Oakland and completed the apprentice program, earning his Boilermaker Card. After moving to Cheyenne in 1948, he was proud to carry the #1 Boilermaker Card issued in the state of Wyoming. Mr. Potter also served on the Cheyenne Police Department many years and retired from Frontier Refinery. He is survived by his four children; Richard Potter (Pat) of Cheyenne, Sharon Karaica (Paul) of Henderson, NV, Jeri Coe (Gordon) of Gold Canyon, AZ, and Patricia Boyle of Sebastopol, CA. He has seven grandchildren, including Shane Potter (Brittany) of Cheyenne, 13 great-grandchildren, two brothers; Charles and Robert, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was proceeded in death by his parents, a sister, and two brothers. At his request, there will be no service.
