Eugene "Gene" Bailey

Eugene "Gene" Bailey, 90, died on May 6, 2018 at Granite Rehabilitation and Wellness. He was born December 19, 1927 in Cheyenne to Larkin and Iola Hamilton Bailey. He attended Cheyenne schools and the University of Wyoming. Gene served in the U.S. Army 3rd Armored Division, and he was a member of the National Air Force Reserve, Wyoming. In 1949 he worked for the UPRR, and in 1950 he sold life insurance before starting his own business. He was owner and operator of Hi Country Insurance and Real Estate. He was a member of Realtors, Past President of the Wyoming Independent Insurers Association, an elected member of the Laramie County School Board, a longtime member of American Legion Post 6, and Cheyenne Country Club. He was active in JAYCEES and Cheyenne Chamber of Commerce. Gene was member of Masonic Blue Lodge Acacia #11, Wyoming Consistory #1, and Scottish Rite, AF&AM. Gene enjoyed playing golf and spending time with his family and friends. He is survived by this wife of 68 years, Jeannine Bailey; five children, Becky, Bill, Barbara, Daniel and Rachel; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by seven brothers and four sisters, Edd, Pauline, Flora, Lydetta, Weldon, Ellis, James, Bert, Russell, Helen, and Delmore. A memory service will be celebrated Friday, May 11, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the Lakeview Chapel at Schrader, Aragon and Jacoby Funeral Home. Interment will be held in Lakeview Cemetery. A reception will follow at the Schrader Reception Center.
