Evelyn Axelson-Madigan

Evelyn W. Axelson-Madigan, 88, of Cheyenne passed away January 25, 2017 at Pathways Hospice Center in Loveland, CO. She was born August 7, 1928 in Durango, CO to Ethan and Muriel (Miller) Wright. She married John Axelson on November 20, 1950 in Cheyenne; he preceded her in death on February 13, 1993. Her second marriage was on May 14, 2004 to J. Patrick Madigan in Broomfield, CO. She was Chief of Mineral Leasing for the Bureau of Land Management. She is a member of St. Mary's Cathedral and the Red Hat Ladies Society. She was formerly a member of the Broomfield Presbyterian Church Choir, Broomfield Civic Chorus and served as an elder at the Broomfield Presbyterian Church. She was a volunteer organizer for the Broomfield Crop Walk and also volunteered for Habitat for Humanity. She is survived by her husband, Pat Madigan of Cheyenne; children, John (Dorothy) Axelson of Thornton, CO, Sharon (Art) Rowley of Boulder, CO, Dennis Madigan of Cheyenne, Kathy (Stephen) Blackburn of Sterling, VA, Pat Will of Cheyenne, and Kevin (Karen) Madigan of Torrington, WY; sister, Barbara Coe of Spokane, WA; 13 grandchildren including Sydnie Axelson, Emily Axelson and Kirsten Rowley; and 23 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant sister; and grandson, Trevor Rowley. Those who wish may contribute to your local Habitat for Humanity or charity of choice. A Vigil for the deceased will be 7:00 p.m. Sunday in the Lakeview Chapel at Schrader, Aragon and Jacoby Funeral Home. Funeral Liturgy will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Cathedral. Cremation will follow with interment of her urn in Fort Logan National Cemetery.
