Fern Belecky

Fern Belecky, 99, was born November 26, 1911 in Denver, CO. She passed away April 17, 2011 at Life Care Center, Cheyenne, WY. She was raised on the family farm near Fort Morgan, CO and attended high school in Denver. She married Al Belecky September 18, 1930. They met when she worked in the ticket booth at the Paramount Theater. She worked for the Laramie County License Bureau and retired from the State Of Wyoming as a timekeeper for the Highway Patrol. She and Al ran the Cheyenne Riding Stables on Manewal Drive for many years, supplying horses for the parades and grand entry at Cheyenne Frontier Days. She was a flag bearer several times for the parade and grand entry. She is survived by her daughter, April (T.V.) Jones, grandsons Steven (Mari) Belecky, Thornton, CO; Cotton D. (Kris) Jones, Cheyenne; Michael Belecky, Livermore, CA; granddaughter Cindy (Robert) King, Tracy, CA. Also great grandchildren, Zachery & Elizabeth Belecky of Thornton, CO; Lyndsay & Brandi Jones and Trey Stetter of Cheyenne; Robby, Janelle, John, Jake and Haley King, Tracy, CA Surviving also are nieces Barbara Moran, Cheyenne, Melody Waters, Santa Rosa, CA, Gloria (Ed) Clark, Franktown, CO and Diana (Terry) Soucie of Louisville, CO; and nephew, James Hensley of Paris, France She was preceded in death by her husband Al in 1986, son Frank I. Belecky in 2010, and granddaughter Codi Lee Jones-Bocanegra in 2004. Also preceding her were 1 brother and 3 sisters. Visitation will be Wednesday, 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Schrader Funeral Home. Services will be held Thursday, April 21, at St. Andrews Episcopal Church at 11:00 AM with Father Tim Davies officiating. Interment will follow at Beth El Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Cotton Jones, Steven Belecky, Felix Bocanegra, Chuck Standage, Jeff Jones and Dan Hatanelas. The family requests in lieu of flowers gifts be made to St. Andrews Episcopal Church, 3325 McCann Avenue, Cheyenne, WY 82009; Cheyenne Frontier Days Old West Museum, P. O. Box 2720, Cheyenne, WY 82003 or a charity of the donor's choice.
