Frances Ilene (Harmon) Bixby was born July 12, 1922, near Oberlin, Kansas. She was the youngest of nine children born to George and Pearl (Berry) Harmon. After graduating from Oberlin High School in 1940, she completed normal training and taught at rural schools for several years. On May 1st, 1945, she married Byron Dale Bixby in Norton, Kansas, and they moved to Cheyenne where Dale was employed. Fran eventually went to work at Irma's Pizza and as a school cook at Davis Elementary. In 1965 Dale and Fran opened Bixby's Yamaha which continued in business for 35 years. During that time, they made countless friends as they established and managed the motorcycle business. After Dale's death in 1982, Fran continued the business in partnership with her son Arlie . Dale and Fran had three children: Patsy Parkin (Don) of Wheatland, Ed of Phoenix, and Arlie (Jean) of Cheyenne. She was a wonderful grandmother to her six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. All these family members survive her and will miss her tremendously. Services will be held at 2:00 Thursday, March 24th, at the North Christian Church, 2015 Tranquility Lane, where she was a dedicated member. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the North Christian Church or to the Cheyenne Dialysis Center.
