That same year, the Jewish organization B'nai B'rith honored Veta for 50 years of service to the Cheyenne Jewish community, where he was a lifelong member of Mount Sinai Synagogue, having served as president of the congregation and as a member of its Board of Trustees. In 1985, the Greater Cheyenne Chamber of Commerce named Veta their Man of the Year. Veta is survived by his wife, Margaret; their daughter, Sherry Veta Snyder, wife of the late Charles A. Snyder; their daughter and son-in-law, Ann Veta Brick and Steven A. Brick; and their daughter and daughter-in-law, D. Jean Veta and Mary Ann Dutton.
