Gary Johnston

Gary D. Johnston of Cheyenne, passed away on Wednesday, January 12, 2011. He was 63 years old. Gary Dwight Johnston was born on March 7, 1947 in Elm Springs, South Dakota, the eighth child of William and Cecil (Richards) Johnston. After graduating from High School, Gary joined the U.S. Navy and served in the Vietnam War. After a long courtship, he married the love of his life, Cindy Irene Cress on July 19, 2008 in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Gary was a talented man and had many accomplishments throughout his life, all of which, he enjoyed. Some of these included ranched, Ironworker of Local 454, property developer. Gary was a devoted husband, father, grandfather. He was full of life. The most important thing in his life was taking care of his family.He will be dearly missed by all whom knew and loved him. Gary D. Johnston is survived by his wife, Cindy I. Johnston of Cheyenne, Wyoming; his children, Pierette “Perri” Marie Grewe of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Bruce Cress Johnston and Sandra Irene Johnston both of Cheyenne, Wyoming; two grandsons, destin and Taven Palluck and two granddaughters, Trysha Beth Ann and Taryn Marie Johnston. He is also survived by a brother, Richard Johnston of Wall, South Dakota; three sisters, JoAnn Olien of Rapid City, South Dakota, Jean Colvin of Rapid City, South Dakota and Sharon Maarsh of Sheridan, Wyoming. He is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Cecil Johnston, his sisters, Carol Davis and MaryRemer and a brother Lane Johnston. Services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday on January 18th, 2011 at Schrader Chapel with Beth Seder officiating. Military Honors will be provided by American Legion Honor Guard. Cremation will take place at Schrader’s Sunset Park Crematory.
