Genevieve Smith

Genevieve Mae (Perry) Smith, 97, passed away peacefully October 23, 2015, at Life Care Center of Cheyenne. Genevieve was born on November 28, 1917, in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. She moved to Wheatland as a young girl and lived there until moving to Cheyenne in 2011. Upon graduation from Wheatland High School, she worked at the Platte County Public Library until marrying Laurel Smith in 1939. They were married 72 years. In addition to being a loving housewife, she worked part-time at the library and for the Wheatland Post Office during World War II when there was a shortage of men. She had many close relatives and friends, and she loved reading and playing cards. She is survived by her son, Verne Smith (Ann); daughter, Kathy Grandia (Kenneth); four grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded by her husband, Laurel; her parents, William and Lodema (Kauth) Perry; three brothers; and one sister. A memorial service will be held on Monday, October 26, 2015, at 2:00 p.m. at the Lakeview Chapel at Schrader, Aragon and Jacoby Funeral Home. Condolences may be made online to www.schradercares.com.
