George Robert Fleming, known as Bob, 86, of Cheyenne, Wyoming died peacefully with his family around him on June 2, 2010. Bob was born on February 16, 1924 in Aberdeen, South Dakota and has lived in Cheyenne since 1956. Bob is survived by his wife, Patricia, his children and their spouses: Dawn and Dan Jackson of Salt Lake City, Utah, Ray and Jim Dinneen of Cheyenne, Grant and Tammy Fleming of Cheyenne, and Patrick and Heather Fleming of Elias Calles, Mexico. Bob Bob was much loved by his eight grandchildren: Grant, Shea and Anna Jackson, Will and Claire Dinneen, Grayson Fleming, Liam and Hadyn Fleming. Among his beloved extended family members rooted in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Bob was especially close with his eight double cousins, whom he loved like brothers and sisters. Bob enjoyed many friendships throughout his life … most would agree he never met a stranger, Among his many passions were Wyoming sports and the Denver Broncos, the history of the West, planting trees, roads, automobiles, a really good idea and a really good deal. Bob grew up in the wheat farming community of Bowman, North Dakota where he graduated from high school and his love of sports began — his 9.9 second 100 yard dash record held for many years. Bob entered the United States Navy two days after high school graduation; he then served in the South Pacific during World War II. After his discharge from the military Bob received his Bachelor of Science from Black Hills State College in Spearfish, South Dakota where he played football and basketball and ran track. He attended the University of Wyoming where he met his future wife, Pat Dinneen. They were married June 16, 1952. Bob also received his Masters degree in Education from the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley. His professional life included farming, construction and sales before he served as the Director of the Wyoming State Motor Pool Division, from which he retired in 1988. Honorary Pallbearers: Bliss Cummings, Don Hogoboom, Bill Norris, Ron Sargent, Jim Slater, Dick Stone and Morris Zempel. Memorial gifts may be sent to the Wyoming Children’s Society (314 E. 21st Street, Cheyenne, WY 82001) or CLIMB Wyoming (1001 W. 31st Street, Cheyenne, WY 82001).
