George Glicco

d. July 2, 2010

A Memorial Service and Celebration of Life are planned for 2:00 pm on Wednesday, July 7 at Schrader Funeral Home, 2323 Carey Avenue, in Cheyenne with a private interment to follow in Lakeview Cemetery. There will be a public viewing from 12a.m. to 2 pm on Wednesday immediately preceding the service. Our dear father, step-father, grandfather and friend, George Stoney Glicco, passed away suddenly on Friday, July 2, 2010. He was 81 years old. Stoney was born on December 14, 1928. He served his country honorably in the United States Armed Forces during the Korean War. He married Marjorie Bilbo in January 1964 in Las Cruces, New Mexico. They had a son together, and Stoney loved daughters as his own. Stoney and Marge later divorced, but remained friends until his death. Stoney had a very successful career with Western Electric (now Alcatel-Lucent), during which time he travelled the world working on numerous private-industry and government projects. He retired from Western Electric in 1983. He married Beverly June Bev Wiseman on November 26, 1983 in Durango, Colorado. They re-located to Cheyenne, Wyoming in 1984 where he worked for Tyrrell-Doyle Motors delivering engines. Stoney was an avid car collector and an excellent mechanic. He spent hours in his garage restoring and tinkering with his many cars including his late wife’s two prized Firebirds. Stoney was a member of First United Methodist Church and enjoyed sitting on his back porch watching his cats play in the flower garden. Stoney was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Jim and his wife of 26 years, Beverly, who passed away only two weeks prior to his death. He is survived by his nephew Jim Glicco of Gainesville, Florida; his first wife, Marjorie Bilbo-Cozad of Cheyenne; a son, Stoney Wade Glicco of Denver; three step-daughters from his previous marriage: Karen (Terry) Bonitiabus of Cheyenne, Sharon (Lynn) Hinz of Saratoga and Ranell Hoelscher of Casper, as well as three step-children from his marriage to Bev: Gretchen Germer of Palmer, Alaska; Lori (Tom) Lancaster of Casper, Wyoming and William Lawrence Larry Wiseman, II, of Cheyenne. He is also survived by a grandson, Brandon Glicco of Cheyenne, and several step-grandchildren whom he loved dearly. Memorial donations may be made in his name to the Disabled American Veterans at P.O. Box 14301 Cincinnati, OH 45250.
