George "Sonny" Durmas

George "Sonny" Durmas, 85, died February 22, 2014, at his home surrounded by his loving family. George was born in Cheyenne, Wyoming, on May 16, 1928, the son of Nicholas Durmas and Amelia (Bitterman) Durmas. He attended Johnson Junior High School and was a graduate of Central High. He was a retired Process Supervisor for Frontier Oil. Starting at an early age, he continued employment at Frontier for 42 years. He was a member of the Oil, Chemical and Atomic Worker Local 2-574 for 30 years, and a member of the Masonic Temple Acacia Lodge #11 for 57 years. He married Barbara A. Williams on September 11, 1948 in Cheyenne and had three sons. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Barbara; sons, Daniel (Cynthia) Durmas of Houston, TX, and Chris Durmas of Cheyenne, WY. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Nicholas Durmas; and a sister, Katherine Durmas Scott. Those who wish may contribute to the Cheyenne Animal Shelter. Funeral Services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, February 28th in the Schrader Chapel. Interment will follow in Beth El Cemetery.
