Georgia Hanson

April 6, 1924 — November 14, 2014

Georgia Josephine "Jo" Hanson, 90 of Pine Bluffs died November 14, 2014 at her farm/ranch home of 71 years surrounded at her bedside literally by her three children, Dennis, Sonja and Carrie. Mom lived independently in her own home and was not leaving unless it was feet first. She lived and died as she had wanted. Mom was born April 6, 1924, attended elementary school at Pine Bluffs, attended high school and graduated from Albin, and attended Park Business School in Denver. She was the middle child of George and Christina Wulf, with older sister Patricia Ann Wulf Beggs and younger sister Alice Kathryn "Mickey" Wulf Smith. Mom married Eugene "Gene" W. Hanson on October 13, 1943 in Pine Bluffs and they enjoyed 67 years, 2 months and 12 days of agricultural life together on the Hanson family homestead. Mom is survived by her three children; son, Dennis (Deidre) and grandchildren, Jonas, Erica and Emily; Sonja (Clyde) Windecker and grandchildren, Shane, Heath and Justin; Carrie (Howard) Deselms and grandchildren, Kirstin, Hugh and Silas; and 12 great-grandchildren. Mom was preceded in death by her husband and soul mate, obviously by her parents but also by her two sisters. Mom did not want a picture with her obituary because she thought if you didn't know her, you didn't need to see her. She also did not want items put in that described her life because she said every wife and mother of her generation did the same things so it wasn't anything special. But she was special, very special to her children and family and although we cannot see her now, she is more than a memory, she is a presence that will continue on in our lives. A Funeral Liturgy will be held Saturday, November 22nd at 1:30 p.m. at St. Pauls' Catholic Church in Pine Bluffs with Father Kevin Koch as celebrant. A cookie and coffee reception will follow at the Parish Hall. Cremation has taken place and graveside interment for both Mom and Dad will be held at a later date. Honorary pallbearers are her grandchildren and all her friends and neighbors. Her wish for donations in her memory was the same as Dad's - please extend an act of kindness to a senior citizen of your choice. Services are under the direction of Schrader Funeral Home.
