Gladys V Durkee, 90 passed away peacefully on November 11, at the Davis Hospice in Cheyenne. Gladys was born September 13, 1922 in Pleasanton, California to Manuel and Emma Amaro. She grew up and graduated from high school in Pleasanton. In 1943, she married the love of her life, Bryce. In 1946, following Bryce's military service overseas, the couple moved to Cheyenne. He worked as an engineer for the Union Pacific Railroad and she worked as a legal secretary for several local law firms. Gladys lost her beloved Bryce in 1999. She remained in Cheyenne where she enjoyed many close friendships and an active membership at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Gladys is survived by her sister Verna M. Wolfenberger, and two nieces, Marsha Waller and Shari Anderson of California. Gladys was a very gracious, loving and caring person who will be missed by all who knew her. A private memorial service is being planned for a future date. Friends who wish may contribute to the Davis Hospice Center or a Charity of their choice.
