Glenn Eugene Smith, 65, of Cheyenne, Wyoming, died January 9, 2014, at his home in Vedawoo with his family by his side. Glenn was born June 14, 1948, to Charles and Lena Jane (Plambeck) Smith in Cheyenne. He graduated from Burns High School in 1966 and went on to earn a B.A. in Education in 1971 and a Juris Doctorate in 1974. He was the All-State Selection for basketball and the state record holder for high and low hurdles in track. After graduation from law school in 1974, Glenn served as the Wyoming State Deputy Insurance Commissioner for 11 years. In 1989, he began his own law firm specializing in insurance law. He served as the Wyoming State Bar Insurance Committee Chairman for four years and was a member of the Wyoming Trial Lawyers Association and the Association of Trial Lawyers of America. In 1973, he served as the Junior Editor of the Wyoming Land & Water Review, and the 1974 Senior Editor of the Wyoming Land & Water Review. He was chosen by the Wyoming State Bar as the Wyoming Director for the Attorney's Liability Protection Society (ALPS). He had an adventurous spirit and travelled to many states and countries. He also was a die-hard New York Yankees, Denver Broncos and Wyoming Cowboy's fan. He spent his last years remodeling his beloved cabin in Vedawoo. Glenn is survived by his wife of 47 years, Suzanne Smith of Cheyenne; his son, Michael Smith and his partner Stephanie Irwin of Wellington, CO; his daughter, Robin Lockman and husband, Rex, of Cheyenne, and grandchildren, Josh Brooksmith of Laramie and Sarah Brooksmith of Cheyenne. He is also survived by his brothers, Leo Smith and wife, Janet, of Carpenter, and Les Smith of Cheyenne and his sister, Judy Anderson and husband, Mark, of Burns; and nine nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lena Jane Smith in 1965 and Charles Smith in 2003; and a sister, Lynn Cowley in 1974. A memory service will be conducted on Wednesday, January 15, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. at the Schrader Chapel with a reception to immediately follow at the Schrader Reception Center. Cremation is under the direction of Schrader Funeral Home. Donations can be made to the Cheyenne Animal Shelter or The American Cancer Society in Glenn's memory.
