Gloria Carlson

January 21, 1940 — April 8, 2018

Gloria Sue Carlson; 78, passed away on April 8, 2018 at Davis Hospice Center in Cheyenne, Wyoming. She was born in Louisville, Kentucky to Alvin and Frances Lowen. Gloria was an educator at heart. She taught in the Cheyenne public school system at the beginning of her career and then moved on to work 19 years as the Director of Religious Education for the Diocese of Wyoming. After her retirement from the Diocese, she was a travel coordinator for AAA in Wyoming. Afterward, she was the training coordinator for the American Lung Association of Wyoming and during the entirety of her career she professionally edited books for publication. She loved to travel, golf, play poker, and was passionate about time spent with family and friends. Gloria is survived by her loving husband, Don; seven children, Mark (Arlene) Carlson, Matt (Lori) Carlson, Mike (Shelby) Carlson, Marty (Julie) Carlson, Lisa (Kenny) Hurd, Lynn (L.J.) Kitchen, and Cheryl (Rick) Bluell; her sister, Anita (Paul) Gordon; two precious daughters-in-law, Nona and Kim; 13 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Cremation is under the care of Schrader, Aragon and Jacoby Funeral Home. No service is planned at this time. A private family service is scheduled for this summer in the mountains of Wyoming that Gloria loved. Her family will be having a celebration of life for Gloria at the Airport Golf Club, 4801 Central Ave., Cheyenne from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday April 14, 2018.
