Harold Dean Kranse

Harold "Sonny" Dean Kranse, 87, of Cheyenne passed away on November 5, 2022. He peacefully passed away at Cottonwood Creek in Cheyenne.

Sonny was born July 6, 1935, in Green River, Wyoming to Harold and Louise Krause. He was one of 6 children in the Krause Family.

He left at 17 to join the Air Force and was subsequently stationed at Lowry Air Force Base in Denver, Colorado.  It was there he met the love of his life, Virginia (Ginger).  For 65 years they were partners, best friends, parents, and grandparents to 3 children, 7 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren.

Sonny retired from Coors after 35 years. He then spent his retirement volunteering at various homes for the disabled in Denver, St. Joseph’s Church and Pantry. He loved fishing, pawn shops, and garage sales. His favorite past time was finding odd and unique treasures. He dedicated his life to his wife, children, grandchildren. He was a great friend to many. He was the first person to help someone in need whether it be their car, house, a meal, or even conversation while having coffee. His laughter was contagious.

He is survived by his wife Virginia (Ginger) Kranse; daughters Ann (Steve) Secrest of Cheyenne, Barb (Carter) Robertson of Cheyenne, daughter-in-law Carolynn Kranse of Castle Rock, CO; 7 grandchildren, Amber (Douglass) Still, Nichole (Matt) Leibrich, Jordan Kranse, Madison Kranse, Kameron Kranse, Tanner Robertson, Taylen Robertson; 2 great-grandchildren, Hope Moutray, and Nevik Moutray; sisters, Joan Graham, and Bonnie Boilsen. Sonny was preceded in death by his parents Harold and Louise Krause, son Gary Kranse, 2 great-grandchildren, Mayble Still and Gracin Moutray: brothers Harry Krause, Danny Krause, and Gary Krause.

A funeral mass will be held at St Joseph’s Catholic Church on Wednesday, November 9, 2022, at 3:00 pm; located at 603 House Ave Cheyenne, WY 82007. Immediately following, there will be a reception at Cheyenne Frontier Days Buckle Club; located at 1230 W 8th Avenue Cheyenne, WY 82001.
