Harriet "Penny" Janeski

Harriet "Penny" (Owens) Janeski, 78, of Cheyenne, Wyoming, passed away early Saturday morning, June 4, 2011, at the Davis Hospice Center in Cheyenne. Penny was born August 18, 1932, in Euclid, MN, a daughter of the late William and Ida Mae (Diggins) Owens. Penny was raised on the family farm and attended Polk County School at Brandt Township near Euclid, MN. She married Joseph Leo Weiler on March 31, 1951, in Moorehead, MN, and later moved to Denver then to Thornton, Colorado. She and Joseph had two children, Lynette Marie Weiler and Joseph Weiler. Following her husband's death in 1966, she moved to Cheyenne and remarried, raising her two children and having a second son, Marty Dean Janeski. Penny's many interests included caring for her pets, tending to her garden and yard, and working in food service and the food preparation industry. Most recently, she worked as a dietary aid and hostess at the Life Care Center of Cheyenne. Penny is survived by her daughter, Lynette M. Vieyra and husband, Manuel, of Cheyenne; two sons, Joseph Weiler, of Cheyenne, and Marty D. Janeski and wife, Heidi, of Cheyenne; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a daughter-in-law, Rozlyn. She is preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Joseph Leo Weiler; five brothers, Lawrence, Lloyd, Willis, Wilbur and LaVerne "Bud"; and three sisters, Esther, Ellen and Alice. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 7, 2011, from 4-7 p.m. at the Schrader Funeral Home. A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 8th at 1:00 p.m. at St. Mary's Cathedral with interment to follow at Olivet Cemetery.
