Hazel Meyer, 84, passed from this life on Friday September 25, 2015 at Davis Hospice Center. Hazel was born to Parents James and Louise Walks in Fargo, North Dakota on August 21, 1931. She was the oldest of four children. The family later moved to Billings, Montana where Hazel graduated from high school. She met and later married Marvin L Meyer on December 21, 1952. The couple moved to Cheyenne where they raised their family. Hazel retired from Central High School in 1993 after 26 years of a job she dearly loved. She was a loyal fan of the Central High Indians. Hazel loved the color red, coffee at McDonald's, cookies, snowmen, dogs, and truly treasured her many friends. She was a member of the Congregational Church and had a deep and living faith. Hazel was preceded in death by her parents; one sister; one brother; and her husband, Marvin, in 1977. Surviving are two daughters, Deb Chaffin of Rawlins and Sue Moberley of Cheyenne; one grandson, Michael Paden of Grand Junction, CO; one sister, Eileen (Frank) Kuck of Billings; a sister-in-law, Linda Dommer of Fargo, ND; numerous nieces and nephews; and her many beloved friends. A memorial service will be held Friday, October 2, 2015, at 1:00 p.m. at the First Congregational Church, 3501 Forest Drive, Cheyenne, with Pastor Eric Snyder officiating. A cookie reception will follow at the church. The burial of Hazel's urn will take place at a later time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cheyenne Animal Shelter, 800 Southwest Dr. Cheyenne, WY 82009 or Zion Congregational Church, 600 E 7th St. Cheyenne, WY 82007.
