Herb Lorenz passed away peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, December 2, 2018 at the Primrose Retirement Community in Cheyenne, Wyoming at the age of 90. He was born on September 3, 1928 in Walla Walla, Washington to Abe and Katherine (Ochs) Lorenz. Herb lived and worked on the Lorenz Family Ranch near Federal, Wyoming during his youth. He married Anseth Wesner and they had three children, Philip, Cheryl and Lyn. They later divorced. He married his soulmate, Shirley Meisner Plumb on December 4, 1980 and was married for 39 years. Herb was very adventurous in his lifetime, including uranium mining, being a dairy farmer, owning a funeral home, a ditch-line company, second mortgage company, real estate development and in his later years, spending the summers at his beloved Lorenz Ranch, running the backhoe making improvements. One of the highlights of his life was being an owner and breeder of racing Quarter Horses. Purchasing a horse named, Jet Dance, changed both of their lives as he was a race champion in both Colorado and California and later became the Lorenz Farms herd sire. They raised and raced many champions. Herb is survived by his loving wife, Shirley; children, Philip (Bettie) of Cheyenne, Cheryl (Cliff) of Greeley, CO, and Lyn of Coos Bay, OR; grandchildren, Alisa (Rick) Manwell, Phillip Herbert (Michelle) Lorenz and Jennifer Bailey; and great-grandchildren, Grace Bailey and P H Lorenz.
