Horace Kissell

September 24, 1924 — March 28, 2011

Horace Junior Kissell, 86, died March 28, 2011 in Cheyenne. He was a loving father. Junior was born September 24, 1924 in Downs, Kansas. In 1937, the family moved to Fort Collins, he attended school in Fort Collins, Colorado and was drafted in 1943. During World War II, he served in the Pacific Theatre as a member of the Army Special Forces. Junior was at the surrender of Japan. Junior and his brother Wesley moved up to Cheyenne in the 50's and started Cheyenne Meat Packing Company. Horace married Donella Jean Baker on June 24, 1956 in Loveland. They moved to Cheyenne where they started their family. They had four children. Junior became the Meat Market Manager for Warren Air Force Base in 1963, a position he held for 30 years, retiring in 1993. He was a member of NRA and Miracle Valley Assembly of God Church since 1953. Junior was preceded in death by his wife, Donella Jean Kissell, an infant daughter, Colleen Joyce, his parents Horace Jacob Kissell and Adda Millar (Wyatt) Kissell, two sisters, Inez Frantz and Roberta Smith and a brother, Eugene Kissell. He is survived by children: Rhonda (Jim) Davis of Cheyenne, Jeff (Esther) Kissell of Baird, Texas and Beth ( Duke) Edwards of Pinedale, Wyoming; grandchildren: Matthew and Mark Davis, Heidi Kissell, McKenna, Colin, Joel and Delaney Edwards; brothers, Robert Kissell of Wellington, Lawrence H. Kissell of Quinlan, Texas, Wesley Kissell, James Kissell and Kenneth Kissell, all of Cheyenne, one sister, Constance Peterson from Farmington, NM. Visitation is Thursday 2:00-8:00 p.m. Services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday at Miracle Valley Assembly of God Church. Interment will be in Lakeview Cemetery. Those who wish may contribute to Miracle Valley Assembly of God Church Building Fund or Wyoming Wildlife Foundation c/o Wyoming Game and Fish.
