Hugh Kennedy

Hugh Kennedy died June 3, 2014 in Cheyenne. Hugh was born February 26, 1934, the youngest of seven children of Alta and Sherman Kennedy in Warners, New York. He graduated from Warners High School, attending Syracuse University for two years before enlisting in the Air Force in 1955. After six years in the service, he returned to Syracuse, earning a BA degree in 1963. A year later, he earned a Masters degree from the University of Northern Colorado in Social Studies Education. Hugh taught economics and U. S. History in Worland, WY, for eight years. He retired from the U.S. Geological Survey in 1994 with 29 years of service. In 1957, Hugh married Effie Lou Wade in Walden, CO. They had five children. They divorced in 1979. In 1979, he married Florence Brown in Cheyenne. They had no children. Hugh is survived by his wife, Florence; daughters, Cindi Biggs or Gerald, MO, Windi (Mike) Allnutt of Walden, CO, Tami (Jim) Knox and Julie (Milton) Marshall of Lakewood, CO; son, Hugh Scott (Brenda) of Rochester, MN; twelve grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two step-children; three step-grandchildren; and four step-great-grandchildren. The family extends appreciation to CRMC ICU and Rehab units. Services will be private.
