J. Richard Williams

J. Richard (“Dick”) Williams passed away in Cheyenne, Wyoming on July 3, 2024. Dick grew up in Laurel, Montana where he was the high school Athletics Manager and selected to attend Boys State. 

Dick completed his undergraduate and MBA degrees at the University of Wyoming and his doctorate at the University of Colorado. 

Following a successful blind date, Dick married Hjalma Person on the 4th of July.

Dick most enjoyed teaching college business and economics and worked at several colleges and universities, including a long career at Laramie County Community College, where he was the Dean of Business for 20+ years. 

He was an active Rotarian, served on the School Board, the Cheyenne Little Theatre board, played bridge, and was an avid square/round dancer.

Dick was predeceased by his wife Hjalma (Person) and parents Harold and LaRue (Burdett) Williams. Dick is survived by his children and their spouses, Kirsten (Jeff Fanning) and Dirk Williams (Ricardo Ferrer), grandson Jared Fanning, and great grandchildren Colby and Norah. The family plans a celebration of life, TBD. Remembrances can be sent to the charity of your choice, the Cheyenne Animal Shelter, or Cheyenne Little Theatre.
