Jacob Rivera

Jacob "Jake" A. Rivera of Cheyenne passed away on June 10, 2011 at the V.A. Medical Center in Cheyenne. He was 81 years old. Jacob Abenicio Rivera was born on June 12, 1929 in Black Lake, New Mexico, the son of Enrique and Annie (Candelario) Rivera. He joined the U.S. Army at a young age and later worked in construction as a cement layer. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and of the V.F.W. Posts #4343 and #1881. Jacob is survived by 2 brothers and spouses, Tom & Raffie and John & Ann Rivera, both of Cheyenne, Wyoming; 4 sisters and spouses, Helen Webber, Patricia & Jesse Martinez, Irene & Richard Paiz of Cheyenne, Wyoming and Loyola Kuhlman of Alliance, Nebraska; numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Mary J. Romero. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the V.A. Medical Center, 2360 E. Pershing Blvd, Cheyenne, WY 82009. Services will be 7:00 p.m. Friday in Schrader Chapel with Fr. Ray Moss officiating. Jake will return to Black Lake, NM for the interment of his urn.
