James Allen

James "Jim" J. Allen, 81, of Cheyenne died October 8, 2015 at Davis Hospice Center. Jim was born October 1, 1934 in Cheyenne to Jack and Hazel Allen. He married Sally Strother on June 8, 1962 in Cheyenne. He retired as assistant director of the Wyoming State Retirement System. Jim was a former member of the Kiwanis Club and former chairman of the Grounds and Security Committees of Cheyenne Frontier Days. He also served on the Board of the Old West Museum. Jim is survived by Sally Allen of Cheyenne; sons, Tom (Amy) Allen of Rock Springs and Pat Allen of Casper; grandchildren, Kenny Carter, Jimmy Allen, Wayne Allen and Parker Allen; great-grandchildren, Gavin and Kaylee Carter; sister, Beverly Coffin of Fremont, CA and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Robert Allen and Tom Allen. Those who wish may contribute to Davis Hospice Center or the Old West Museum. Memory Services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday in the Lakeview Chapel at Schrader, Aragon and Jacoby Funeral Home. Having served in the U.S. Navy, Military Honors will be provided by the American Legion Honor Guard and the U.S. Naval Funeral Honor Guard. Cremation has taken place under the care of Schrader, Aragon and Jacoby Funeral Home.
