James "Jim" A. Burnell, 69, of Cheyenne died February 9, 2015 in Cheyenne. He was born January 19, 1946 in Thermopolis, WY to Robert P. and Alexandria Burnell. He married Christine Collins-Williams on February 21, 2011 in Cheyenne. He was a veteran of Vietnam serving In the US Army and then as the Coordinator of Military Honors for the Wyoming Army National Guard, retiring after 33 years. After retirement he was a substitute teacher for Laramie County School District #1. Jim loved to spend time with his grandchildren and was an avid fisherman, Denver Bronco and University of Wyoming Cowboys fan. He enjoyed going to Blackhawk with his friend, Don Frank. He is survived by his wife, Christine Williams-Burnell of Cheyenne; children, Tosha (Danny) Apodaca of Cheyenne, Christopher (Wendy) Lackey of Cheyenne, Rachel Gerhart of Aurora, CO and Charlotte Hughes of Cheyenne; grandchildren, Britt, Joshua, Coral, Kolten, Tristin, Taryn, Alex and Michael; siblings, Larry Burnell of Eugene, OR, Edward Burnell of Winnemucca Nevada, Patricia (Ray) Burnell-Williams of Sierra Vista, AZ, Michele (JM) Shafer of Windsor, CO, Christopher (Joann) Burnell of Salmon, ID and Jodie (Ken) Werbelow of Buffalo, WY and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Michael Burnell. In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to the Wyoming Army National Guard wounded Warrior Project. Visitation will be Saturday 2-4 p.m. at Schrader Funeral Home. A Memory Service will be Sunday 1:00 p.m. in the Lakeview Chapel at Schrader Funeral Home. "One thing's for sure...I sure do love you"
