Father James Doudican died September 25, 2014, at Davis Hospice Center. He was born May 15, 1917, son of John Doudican and Alice Brady. He was the fourth son of a family of five brothers in Skreen, County Sligo, Ireland. He studied for the priesthood at St. Peter's College, Wexford, Ireland, and was ordained on June 6, 1948. Coming to Wyoming that same year, he was stationed at the then St. Joseph's Orphanage (now St. Joseph's Children's Home) for six months. He served in the parishes of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Rawlins, St. Mary's Cathedral, Cheyenne, St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Kemmerer, and in 1955, was appointed first resident pastor of the Catholic church in Jackson, Wyoming. He spent 11 years in Jackson and during that time, he bought extra Church property, supervised the building of a new church and parish hall, and purchased a rectory. After 11 years at Jackson, he served at Newcastle, Glenrock and Lovell. In 1972, he was appointed Chaplain to DePaul Hospital where he served for 20 years. In March 1992, he retired from active church work and resided at Holy Trinity Catholic Rectory. He is preceded in death by his parents and four brothers, John, Tim, Tom and Michael. Visitation will be Sunday, September 28, 2014, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Schrader Funeral Home. A Vigil Service will be Monday at 7:00 p.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church and a Funeral Mass will be Tuesday 10:00 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Olivet Cemetery. Those who wish may contribute to St. Joseph's Society: Clergy Retirement Fund or Holy Trinity Building Fund.
