James Foster

A funeral service for James F. Foster will be held on Saturday September 11, 2021 at 10:30am at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Stamford, NE with Pastor Thalia Woodworth officiating. A private family inurnment will follow at the Stamford Cemetery.

James F. Foster, 70, of Hillsdale, WY passed away unexpectedly at his home on September 3, 2021 in Hillsdale, WY.

James was born December 20, 1950 in McCook, NE to George and Velma (Stagemeyer) Foster. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Stamford, NE. James graduated from Stamford High school in 1969 and received an Associate’s degree from Milford Tech in 1971. He married his high school sweetheart, Susan Stephens, on December 5, 1971 at Trinity Lutheran Church. To this union one son, Justin, was born. His life’s work centered around soil conservation, heavy equipment and construction in Nebraska, Colorado, and Wyoming and was a lifelong member of the NRA.

His life revolved around his family, hunting, shooting sports and the outdoors. He enjoyed nothing more than hunting with his son and grandsons or a friendly competition at the shooting range.  Weather permitting, no Christmas day was complete without a blue rock shoot.

James is survived by his wife, Susan Foster of Hillsdale; son, Justin (Jenny) Foster of Bellvue, CO; grandsons, Dustin, Dillon and Dalton Foster; great-grandchildren, Braelynn and Kennedy Foster; siblings, Dennis (Sue) Foster of Stamford and Deanna (Kent) Reynolds of Loomis NE, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Lee and Raylene Stephens of Stamford, along with a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Douglas and Richard Foster; brother-in-law, Fred Stephens, niece, Stefanie Florum; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Charles and Wilma Stephens
