"Doc" James G. Haller, MD, 84, of Cheyenne, Wyoming, passed away on September 14, 2017 at the Davis Hospice Center surrounded by his loving family. Dr. Haller was born October 20, 1932, in Omaha, Nebraska, a son of the late Benjamin J. and Agnes M. (Sollars) Haller. Doc was a graduate of Creighton University School of Medicine in 1963 and he was one of the earliest leaders of cardiac medicine in the State of Wyoming. He enlisted in the United States Army Reserves where he served honorably as a flight surgeon for the 1022nd and also served in Desert Storm in 1991. His medical career included working as a dispensary doctor for the Union Pacific Railroad and for the Laramie County Sherriff's Department. He was also instrumental in establishing the helipad at Cheyenne Regional Medical Center. His many interests included serving as a member of numerous medical associations, sobriety and substance abuse organizations including Alcoholics Anonymous. He was also actively involved as a parishioner of St. Mary's Cathedral and the Daedalians. His love of flying also led to his private pilot license, flying both airplanes and helicopters. Doc is survived by five children, James (Debbie) Haller, II of Cheyenne, Thomas Haller of Cheyenne, Karen Sacco-Haller of Omaha, NE, Joseph (Karen) Haller of Las Vegas, NV; and Janet (Jeff) Stander of Waverly, NE; daughter-in-law, Laurie Haller of Carlsbad, CA; grandchildren, James (Christen) Haller, III, Jessica (Zeb) McWilliams, Michael Haller, Anthony (Dakota) Haller, Samantha Haller, Alexander Haller, Mark Haller, Sarah Haller, Jay Stander, Jackson Stander, Steven Cowley, Matthew Lemmerman, Benjamin Lemmerman, Rodney Haller, Cheyenne Trimels and Kara Trimels; great-grandchildren, Annabelle Haller, Jade McWilliams, Mason McWilliams, Mark Haller, Maggie Haller, Sofie Cowley and Harper Cowley. Doc is preceded in death by his parents; his son, Robert Haller; grandson, Lars Haller and dear friend, Noreen Humphrey and 13 brothers and sisters. Visitation will be held on Wednesday 1:00-5:00 p.m. at the Schrader, Aragon and Jacoby Funeral Home with a Vigil for the Deceased to follow at 7:00 p.m. at St. Mary's Cathedral. A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Cathedral with an interment service to be conducted in Olivet Cemetery.
