James Lucas

James B "Jim" Lucas, 78, of Cheyenne died December 31, 2015 at Cheyenne Regional Medical Center. Jim was born in Sheldon, IA on November 1, 1937 the son of Fred and Alice (Lamkin) Lucas. He grew up in George, IA and graduated from George Public School in 1956. He attend Westmar College in LeMars, IA. He later worked for Chevrolet Motor Division of General Motors for 35 years. Most of his career was spent as a district sales manager in Oklahoma and Texas. On October 26, 1963 he married LaVonne H. "Loni" Gehrke in Clara City, MN. Jim enjoyed many different activities in his life including coaching kids baseball, running, woodworking, back packing, volunteering at a grade school helping kids with mathematics, University of Iowa sports and most of all, his family. Jim was also a Master Mason. Jim is survived by his wife Loni of Cheyenne, one son Steve Lucas of Wheatland, WY, a daughter Stacy Lucas Sloan of Cheyenne and one sister Norma Larson of Farmington, MN. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Lance and Audrey Lucas and Kennon and Eryn Kirk. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister. Visitation will be held Monday, January 4 from 5 pm -7 pm at Lakeview Chapel at Schrader, Aragon and Jacoby Funeral Home. Memory services will be held Tuesday, January 5 at 2 pm at First United Methodist Church. Interment will follow.
