James (Jim) Kubitschek

November 18, 1952 — October 22, 2017

James E. "Jim" Kubitschek, 64, of Cheyenne, Wyoming, passed away at his home in his wife's loving arms following a lengthy illness. Jim was born November 18, 1952, in Denver, Colorado. Jim worked as an aeronautics and electrical engineer who served as Sr. Director of the Space Segment for Digital Globe. He was instrumental in launching the satellites World View II and III. He also worked for Ball Aerospace. Jim loved the outdoors/mountains, skiing and hiking. He was an unwavering fan of the Broncos and Rockies. His interests led him to serve as an officer and active participant in BCARES, a ham radio operator group for emergencies that covers Boulder County, Colorado. He also volunteered on the SWAT team for Boulder County. In addition, he served as a mentor and ski ambassador for the Copper Mountain Ambassador Program. Jim will be remembered as a man of generosity and integrity, whose life and legacy has literally changed the way that we view the world and our universe. He truly loved his family and his amazing friends. His love of the Lord was demonstrated by the way that he witnessed Christ's love to those around him. Jim is survived by his loving wife, Patricia "Patty" Walkley-Kubitschek; three daughters; Lisa (Ryan) Case, Lori (Andy) Plucker, Kathyrn (Travis) Rue, and two step-daughters; Kim (Brad) Worley and Linnae Sims (fiancé, Bill Barnett); two sisters, Michelle (Mike) McCarthy and Patti (Alan) Herzfeld; and six grandchildren; Alek, Kellie, Austin, Kaylee, Ella and Brooks. A celebration of life will he held on Thursday, October 26, 2017, at 4:30 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, Cheyenne. A light supper will follow. Cremation is under the care of Schrader, Aragon and Jacoby Funeral Home.
