Jane Forbes, 84, of Cheyenne died May 20, 2012 in Cheyenne. She was born September 5, 1927 in Hillsboro, IL to Albert and Virginia Dorsey. She married Jim Forbes on August 30, 1980 in Cheyenne. She was a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church. Within the church she was active in the Birthday Club, Girlfriends Unlimited, and Church Guild. She also a member of the Republican Women's Club, a 50-year member of P.E.O. Chapter S, serving as president in 1987, Women's Civic League since 1956, 60-year member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and Colonial Dames, Venture Club and the Gourmet Group. She was a volunteer at Cheyenne Regional Medical Center for many years. She originally came to Cheyenne to be a stewardess instructor for United Air Line in the early fifties. She served in the Wyoming Senate Staff for the Wyoming Legislature for many years. She was an owner of the Cheyenne business," Lights ‘N' Such", for many years. She is survived by her husband, Jim Forbes of Cheyenne; children, Daniel Read of Berkley, CA and Christine Read of Piedmont, CA; step children, Jamie Lisa Forbes of Greensboro, NC and Mark Jonathan Forbes of La Crescenta, CA; grandchildren, Julia and Victoria Saykally, Thomas and Joseph Forbes, Justin Smith and Lauren Smith Sarraf; great-grandchildren, Benjamin River Smith, Carter Michael Smith and Dylan Sarraf; sisters, Clara Bridenfeld of Port Ludlow, WA and Gingie Clark of Pell City, AL. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Jean White. Those who wish may contribute to the Cheyenne Botanical Gardens. Memorial Services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday at St. Mark's Episcopal Church with Father Rick Veit officiating. Cremation has taken place under the care of Schrader Funeral Home.
