Janet Elaine Lockman, aged 79, peacefully passed away on November 4, 2024, surrounded by her loving family and friends after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born on March 20, 1945, in Glendale, California, Janet was the daughter of Lloyd and Lily Sherwood. She married the love of her life, David C. Lockman, on August 30, 1969. Janet is survived by her three sons: Rex (Robin) of Cheyenne, Clint (Heather) of Green River, and Dusty (Erica) of Island Falls, Maine, along with ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Margaret (Phill) Schaaf.

Janet spent her formative years in the San Fernando Valley of California before pursuing her education at Pierce College, Cal Poly, and Colorado State University. It was at CSU that she met David; they later settled in Ocean Lake, where David worked for the Wyoming Game and Fish Department. Janet dedicated herself to being a stay-at-home mother until 1986 when she returned to school to earn her degree in elementary education. For 16 years she worked for Laramie County School District #1 and during that time taught 3rd grade at Pioneer Park Elementary School.

In addition to her teaching career, Janet worked with David on various wildlife projects through their consulting business and traveled extensively to promote outdoor wildlife expos for the Weatherby Foundation for more than a decade. An outdoor enthusiast, Janet cherished the time spent with her family at their cabin. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Lily Sherwood, and her husband, David.

A celebration of life will be held at a later time.
