Jean R. Pierce, 95, of Tustin, California, formerly of Cheyenne, Wyoming, passed away November 24, 2016, in Tustin. Jean was born January 19, 1921, in Manson, Iowa, to Earl and Jesse Owens. Jean married Max L. Pierce on December 7, 1941. A longtime resident of Cheyenne, Jean worked for her Uncle Fred Gage at Gage's Grocery from the 1930s to the 1950s. For a period of ten years, she worked for the Wyoming Natural Resource Board and then in the 1970s, she moved to Salt Lake City and Washington DC where she worked for the Western States Water Council. In the late 1970s, she moved to Greeley, Colorado, where she worked for the Board of Chiropractic Examiners. In 1983, she moved to Tustin where she lived with her daughter, Susan Eklof, and she took a job with Tustin Meadows Owners Association. Later, she worked part-time at Mervyn's Department Store for 16 ½ years and continued to volunteer with the Tustin Library until she was 94 years old. Jean is survived by her son, Leslie C. Pierce and wife, Lucy, of Bellflower, CA; daughter, Susan J. Eklof of Tustin, CA; brother, Douglas Owens and wife, Dorothy, of Cheyenne; sister-in-law, Marietta Owens of Laramie, WY; daughter-in-law, Carol Pierce of Spring Valley, IL; grandchildren, Angela Pierce, Terry Ramey, Kris Eklof and Leslie J. Pierce; great-grandchildren, Becky Ramey, Renee Ramey, Sabrina Eklof, Kristofor Eklof, Kristian Eklof, Kaiden Eklof, and Karmyn Eklof. She is preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Max L. Pierce on July 14, 1965; son, Alan M. Pierce; brother, Donald L. Owens; and sister, Helen Titus. A graveside service in Beth El Cemetery will be announced at a later date.
