Jerry O. Shmidl, 76, of Pine Bluffs died October 17, 2012 at Cheyenne Regional Medical Center. He was born March 26, 1936 in Laramie to Oliver and Ella Shmidl. He married Sharon Kay Kasp on December 28, 1960 in Laramie. He retired from the Union Pacific Railroad as an engineer. He was stationed in Laos just prior to the Vietnam Conflict during his enlistment in the United States Army. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers, American Legion in Albin, a former member of the PRCA. He is survived by his wife, Sharon Shmidl of Pine Bluffs; children, Candace (Gary) Stoll of Douglas, Shawn (Ana) Shmidl of Pine Bluffs, Pam Shmidl of Pine Bluffs and Tamara (John) Lupher of Mountain View, WY; grandchildren, Todd Stoll, Koreen Rapp, Tyler Stoll, Dairon Morren, Olivia Shmidl, Bradley Shmidl, Ashley Shmidl, Shawn Shmidl, Jr., Jetta Koehler, Bailey Lupher and Delaney Lupher; great-grandchildren, James Stoll, Hannah Stoll, Korbin Rapp, JW Rapp, Josie Rapp; siblings, Roy Shmidl of Wheatland, Rena Wang of Buena Vista, CA, Shirley Hansen of Laramie and Darlene Kerr of Golden. He was preceded in death by his parents. Memorial Services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday in the Pine Bluffs United Methodist Church with Pastor Dale Lovett officiating. Cremation has taken place under the care of Schrader Funeral Home.
